FAQ

We have tried to make this Web site as user-friendly as possible. While we hope you enjoy the design, the emphasis is on content and ease of use. However, if you have questions concerning our site, our books, our service...anything...please do not hesitate to send us an email.

Below are some of the questions that have been adressed previously.

Q:

What is the recommended way to use your site and links?

A:

Q:

How do I order?

A:

Q:

What is the difference between your US and European site, and which one should I use?

A:

For the most part, the same books are available on both sites. This is true for almost 100% of the books we recommend and link to directly. However, shipping is faster and costs less if you choose the site closest to you. So if you are in Europe, use the European site. For the rest of the world, we recommend the US site. Make sure you use only one of them at a time.

Q:

How do I get an order shipped as a present?

A:

Easy. Just type in the message to the recipient during the final stage of the ordering process, and select gift wrapping!

Q:

What if I send someone a book as a present, and he's got it already?

A:

Our return policy is simple. Within 30 days of receipt of your order, you may return

for a full refund.

Q:

How safe is payment by means of a credit card?

A:

Completely safe! To confirm this, read the guarantee during the ordering process, and also the link "Why this is safe".

Q:

What criteria do you go by to choose your selection of books?

A:

Several. Title and keyword matching is the beginning. Then we look at the sales figures, publication year, publishers description, critique's, and readers' reviews. Avid readers of all boating related material, we have also read many of the books ourselves. While personal taste is not important, good jugdement is.

Q:

What does it mean that you are "Associates of Amazon.com"?

A:

All books offered in our online bookshop are from the 3 million titles supplied by Amazon.com. We select, categorize and present the best boating related books from their huge catalog. They handle all sales, shipping etc. So while you are ordering from our catalog, the order goes directly to Amazon.com and is dealt with in exactly the same manner as any other orders (in fact, a large portion of their business comes as referred orders in this way). So while ordering through our catalog, you are actually dealing with the world's leading company in online business on the Internet.

Q:

So you only give us a few of their books, right?

A:

Wrong. Through the search form on the bottom of each page, you have access to all their 3 million titles. This includes all kinds of books, as well as music and video's. So if you are in the cruising category, but don't find the kind of book you are looking for, simply enter "cruising" or another appropriate keyword into the search form, and you will be searching their full catalog. However, this is exactly what we have done to provide you with our selection of books - only we have sifted away a lot of books that are not relevant, out of print, outdated, never bought by anyone, or simply lousy according to the reviews it has received...

Q:

But we pay more, right?

A:

Wrong. You still get exactly the same prices - usually 10-40% off the cover prices! - when ordering through us. While giving us complete freedom in choosing subject and titles, Amazon.com pay us for our knowledge of boating, our recommendations, and the work involved. You don't.

Q:

What does Amazon.com have to say about this arrangement?
