The Pacific

Among our destinations are Tahiti and the Society islands, New Zealand, and Australia. Come winter  up north, this is where you can still find summer!

Sailing the PacificNew Zealand

In New Zealand, the season last from October through May. The warmest months are December to February, but temperatures are still pleasant.

The Stardust Marine bases are found in Opua, located far north, and in the Hauraki gulf. The latter is only a half hour drive from Auckland. The gulf gives protection from the mighty Pacific ocean, and offers more than 70 islands to visit, with golden beaches, wildlife sanctuaries, historic buildings, lovely harbours...

Australia

In Australia the mild tropical winds blow througout the year, but the best time for chartering is during our winter. You can sail off from Sydney, of from Pittswater, about 30 miles further north. Pittswater is surrounded by the Ku-Ring-Gai Chase national park, which provides a spectalucar setting for your sailing holiday.

You can also charter out of Airlie Beach. From here, the Whitsunday islands are easily accessible. This is also a national park  - more specifically, a World Heritage Site, with over 100 undeveloped islands. The beaches are fantastic, as is the snorkeling. Wildlife abound, with unique Australian animals like wallabies and goannas, as well as whales and sea turtles.

Tahiti and the Society Islands

Sailing in the Southern ocean - that is the fabric dreams are made of. You have heard of the adventures of Captain Cook, Paul Gauguin and Jack London?

Now it is your turn.  The fabric of dreams: The islands of the south Pacific

In French Polynesia you will find large atolls with sheltered lagoons, and volcanic islands that have risen from the ocean and are now covered by green vegetation. Visit idyllic places with exotic names like Raiatea, Tahaa, Huahine, Bora Bora… The latter was, by famous author James Michener, described simply as "The most beautiful island in the world".

From March and through November, the climate is warm and dry, excellent for a sailing vacation. Temperatures are in the 80's, with constants winds between 10 and 15 knots. December to February is hot and humid.

The Stardust Marine base is located on Raiatea.
