Sailing by yourself, that's a cruise. Now, some people can continue cruising even if there are other yachts around. For others, anything under sail within sight means there is a race going on...(at least if they are traveling in remotely the same direction!).

...and almost any other race going on in the Caribbean. Furthermore, there's the Marmaris race week in Turkey, and the Blue Cup Regatta in Greece. In addition, we'd be more than happy to oversee the arrangement of your own regatta in the Med or Caribbean. We successfully did this for a team of 50 Whitbread 1997/98 sponsors in March 1999, in St. Martin. Salty Seas Yacht Charter Ltd. is proud also to have supplied the yachts (and help with arrangements) for the association of Dutch student sailing clubs for their one week race in the Greek isles in May 2000, where an estimated 150-200 crewmembers and skippers participated in a sizeable fleet of 32-36 footers. This will be repeated in Croatia in April 2001.
You need the yacht to race, but you need more to do well, or even win! Our race packages include race inscription, measurement & yacht preparation, hull cleaning, assistance, and skipper's briefing. With our yachts, you can enter either the bareboat (cruising) classes, or choose a racier design with full spinnaker gear and join the racer/cruisers.
From our base in St. Martin you can charter JOD 35's (Jeanneau One Design) both for high speed cruising, race training, or race participation. And last but not least, there are the 70+ ft America's Cup challengers France 2 and 3! Offered for charter with a competent crew, of course, these are of the most impressive racing yachts available anywhere.

We're as serious about racing as we are about providing our clients with the perfect sailing holiday experience - and often the two are combined. A proof is our main sponsorship of the Salty Seas Shetland Race, a challenging 400 mile open ocean yacht race that crosses the North Sea between Norway and Shetland and back.
