A typical day's sailing - rather pleasant, really...

Some believe that sailing is a lot of hard work. Well it can be, but usually it's more like this - at least in Greece during the Summer. The wind is blowing steadily from the North, and there is almost no need to touch the sails between departure from one island and arrival on the next. Unless you decide to race against some other yacht, that is...

But even though the direction of the wind is usually very stable, the strength often varies. If you're sailing for a forthnight, you're likely to experience both strong, challenging winds and days of almost absolute calm, when you're only drifting with the current. Or going by engine, which I don't much care for.

Under the right conditions, the main sail is a safe "hammock" and the most comfortable place on board! On this picture Svein, my second captain, and Punky, have found "the right spot". Tony and I are providing the musical entertainment. Later, we were accompanied by a rhythm section consisting of pots & pans, bottles etc... And Siw Line on vocals (eh...she does in fact have a record deal).
